About Dolmabahçe Palace

The last Ottoman palace, completed in 1856 and lined with 14 tons of gold leaf, Baccarat chandeliers, and a ceremonial hall the size of a soccer field. Atatürk lived — and later died — in a modest bedroom on the second floor.
