About Blue Mosque
Officially the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, this 17th-century wonder is famous for the more than 20,000 hand-painted blue Iznik tiles that line its interior. Its cascading domes and six slender minarets define the Istanbul skyline. Entry is free, but the guided tour is included with your pass.
Insider tips
- Arrive right after sunrise for near-empty prayer halls.
- Shoulders and knees must be covered; women receive a complimentary scarf.
